Tina Berning and Michelangelo Di Battista approach image-making from their own disciplines: photography and painting - - and each are known for their portraits of beautiful women. What happens when the lovely line work and patterns Tina Berning is known for meet the fashion photography of Michelangelo Di Battista? The Face/Project.
Tina Berning and Michelangelo Di Battista blur the boundaries between fashion photography, drawing, and painting in this collaboration where each artist brings a different expertise to the mix.
The two artists met for the first time for a Vogue Italia shoot. When they began working together, they quickly realized the great potential of their creative collaboration. Ignoring the computer’s possibilities for manipulation, they combined their fields of work - photography and drawing - in a wonderfully analog way.
The Face/Project contained approximately 30 works, and was displayed at Camera Work, Berlin, for an eight-week exhibition.
